Keetha birthday banner mantle

The current state of our mantle. I decorated it the other day, just in time for my birthday on Thursday.

Is it obnoxious to do this for your own birthday? Possibly?

Oh, well.

I think everyone’s birthday is cause for celebration.

It snowed today, which was the icing on the birthday cake. 🙂

Artist I love: Carol Gillott of Paris Breakfast

Paris Breakfast macaroons

I found artist Carol Gillott through Pinterest.

She lives in Paris, where she paints dreamy watercolors of her life there. I just swooned over them, and then I discovered that she offers subscription services of her illustrations.

Can you imagine? Receiving handrawn maps and watercolors and little bits of France delivered to you?

What a wonderful idea for a gift. The New York Times thinks so, too:

THE TRAVEL GETAWAY: Browsing Boutiques Without Taking The Trip “Also, a special nod to Paris Breakfasts (, where Carol Gillott — who studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and at Parsons in New York — shares the ups and downs of life as an expat. Now living in Paris, she sells her fanciful monthly “sketch letters” (reproductions of her original watercolors) featuring Parisian breakfasts, pastries and celebrations to those who can only dream of being there.”

Such a delightful idea – getting Paris delivered to you once a month.

To check out her art and her six-month and twelve-month packages, visit her online shop here.

Carol’s web site is here.

She is on Pinterest here.

I love visiting her via her artwork. She was also gracious when I reached out to her, asking permission to use her artwork in this blog post.
